Pinoy QuickBooks users can type "H" from their keyboard on any date field in Intuit QuickBooks to instantly enter last day of the current month. If Pinoy QuickBooks user will repeatedly press "H", the date will change and will show the end of the following month.

Pinoy QuickBooks Tip for Philippines Intuit QuickBooks users: 2010-04

I feel like giving Intuit QuickBooks tips to Philippines QuickBooks users today! 

I supposedly posting 1 tip a day, but since I did not post any Intuit QuickBooks tips yesterday, I will be posting 3 tips today. On Pinoy QuickBooks Tip to Pinoy Users of Intuit QuickBooks : 2010-02 I said that we can use "+" or "-" in increasing or decreasing the date in Intuit QuickBooks. While on Pinoy QuickBooks Tip to Pinoy Users of Intuit QuickBooks : 2010-03 I mentioned that Philippines QuickBooks users can type the date on the date field without any dashes because Intuit QuickBooks will automatically enter it.

On 2010-04 Pinoy QuickBooks Tip for Pinoy QuickBooks users it is also about entering dates in Intuit QuickBooks. Do you know that you can just type on the date field "T" from your keyboard to automatically insert the current date? Yes! Just type "T" and the date today will be inserted.

In the date field on any Intuit QuickBooks Form, you can enter date without "-" dashes because Intuit QuickBooks will add them automatically!

There is no need enter the full date in Write Check, Invoice, General Journal and all other Forms in Intuit QuickBooks. Users of Intuit QuickBooks just need to key in month and day because Intuit QuickBooks will enter the current year automatically.

Recording Donations to Charitable Institutions or other companies of Non - Inventory items in Intuit Quickbooks is like Recording Donations of Inventory Items in Quickbooks.

Pinoy Accountants or Pinoy Quickbooks Users can follow the three simple steps below how to record donations to Charitable Institutions or other companies of Non - Inventory items in Intuit Quickbooks:

Step One: Create a Sales Receipt and record the sale of Non Inventory Item in Quickbooks. Click Save to record the Sales Receipt.

Step Two: Search the Expense used in recording the purchase of the Item. Then record a Donation in General Journal by Crediting the expense. Example: The company purchased Pinoy-Quickbooks: Umbrella then the same item will be donated to a Charitable Institution. The Accounting entry on General Journal should be:

Recording Donations of Inventory Items is not as easy as Recording Cash Donations in QuickBooks. THere are additional steps to be done.

On my previous article Donations to Charitable Institution in Quickbooks I mentions the different types of donations. For this article let me show you how to record cash donations in quickbooks.


First, create the Charitable Contribution account. see Setting up Chart of Accounts in Quickbooks


Second, Go to Banking then click Write Check from the drop down list, put the name of the Organization on the Payee, put the date and amount. On the Memo put the description or details about the donation.


Third, Enter on the Expense Tab the Charitable Contribution Account or Donations.


Lastly, Click save and new or save and close

Donations to Charitable Institution in QuickBooks

Accountants can record Donations to Charitable Institutions or government agencies, like donation when Ondoy happened last year or to Pakistan's deadliest flood that killed 1,500 people in all versions of Quickbooks.

Tax implications will not be discussed in this article whether is Income Tax deductible or not but more on how we should enter the transaction as it occur in Quickbooks.
